Electro-Harmonix Pico Attack Decay Tape Reverse Simulator Pedal
The Electro-Harmonix Pico Attack Decay is a compact effects pedal designed to transform the way notes begin and fade. Instead of simply adding delay or distortion, it changes the volume envelope of your playing to create smooth swells, bowed-string-like tones, and unusual, reverse-tape-inspired effects.
It brings the creative attack-and-decay concept of EHX's larger Attack Decay pedal into a small Pico-format enclosure.
- Attack shaping: Softens the start of each note.
- Decay shaping: Controls how notes fade away.
- Reverse-style textures: Creates sounds reminiscent of backwards guitar and tape effects.
- Compact design: Fits easily on a crowded pedalboard.
What does it sound like?
1. Reverse-style swells
Increase ATTACK so notes fade in gradually, creating the impression of a guitar being played backward. The effect imitates the character of reverse tape without actually reversing a recorded performance.
2. Bowed-string textures
Use a slow attack and sustained notes to soften the pick transient and create violin- or cello-like sounds, especially with reverb.
3. Short, choppy notes
Use a quick attack and a short decay to make notes sound clipped and percussive, useful for rhythmic riffs and experimental funk.
