Boosey & Hawkes (B&H) was a prestigious, large-scale musical instrument manufacturer—once one of the world’s largest—formed in 1930 through the merger of a British music publisher and an instrument maker. The company earned an exceptional reputation, particularly for its brass instruments, and was inextricably linked to the development of the traditional British-style brass band. Although B&H withdrew from instrument manufacturing in the early 2000s—with the brand subsequently passing to Besson (part of the Buffet Crampon Group)—the advanced craftsmanship and design philosophy cultivated in the UK remain highly respected by players worldwide, standing as a significant milestone in the history of brass instruments.

The "967" is a masterpiece from B&H’s flagship "Sovereign" line; it has long reigned as the "global standard" for the euphonium—a status it maintains to this day. Its defining characteristic is the rich, commanding volume and symphonic resonance produced by its large-bore design and 304mm (12-inch) bell. It also comes standard with a "compensating system"—a proprietary automatic intonation-correction mechanism—which perfectly addresses the pitch discrepancies often found in the euphonium’s lower register.
