The Walrus Audio Fable MKII Granular Soundscape Generator Pedal - Grey is the Mark II evolution of Walrus Audio's granular ambient platform, expanding the Fable into a stereo soundscape generator with deeper control, presets, MIDI, expression, and new performance options. At its core, two effects feed into one another through separate feedback paths, allowing sounds to continually develop instead of simply repeating. Five modes explore reverse textures, octave-up and octave-down grains, grain-based reverb, and randomized pitch processing. If you liked what the original Fable could do but wanted it to fit more naturally into a modern stereo or MIDI-controlled rig, the MKII is built around exactly that kind of flexibility.

Feedback and Regen independently control the two feedback paths, while X changes the grain size from longer, smoother samples to short, chopped textures. The five modes pair Reverse Delay with Reverse Granular, Forward Delay with Octave-Up Granular, Analog Delay with Octave-Down Granular, two Multi-Tap Granular processors for the Grain-Verb mode, and Forward Delay with Randomized Pitch Granular. The Tweak section adds Width, Mod Rate, Mod Shape, Shift, and Ramp controls. Hold Tap/Shift and the new Dive / Rise function temporarily changes the pedal's clock rate, creating anything from an immediate pitch jump to a long, bending glide.

The MKII also gives you full stereo I/O, three onboard presets plus live mode, another 127 presets over MIDI, MIDI clock, expression control, and selectable trails behavior. Expression can be assigned to any knob parameter, while the same jack can alternatively handle external tap tempo. We think the MKII makes the Fable considerably easier to build a rig around. You can still turn a few knobs and disappear into granular ambience, but stereo operation, presets, and expanded control make those sounds much easier to reproduce and manipulate when you're actually playing.
