A 1979 Fender Stratocaster MN (maple neck) Sunburst has arrived.

Weighing 4.08kg. and featuring an ash body, maple neck, and fingerboard, which are characteristic of this era. It has specifications typical of the period, such as a nut width of approximately 41mm, a large headstock, two wing-shaped string guides, a bullet truss rod that protrudes towards the headstock, a three-bolt neck joint, and a black pickguard.

The large headstock shines with a logo edged in gold, and it has a wide tonal range, covering a broad spectrum of frequencies. The weight of 4.08kg is also typical of 70s guitars, giving this Stratocaster a sense of the era.

The neck date stamped on the neck end (guitars from 1972 onwards have an 8-digit number stamped on them) is "0902 4691".
09 = Stratocaster
02 = Maple fretboard (Neck code)
46 = Week 46 (Week code)
9 = 1979 (Year code)
1 = Monday (Day of the week code)

The pickups and wiring were all thought to be original, but the pots were defective upon arrival, so we replaced them. The date on the pots before replacement is 1979, and they are included but are not functional. The pickups are what appear to be the original 1979 models. It has a simple yet complete control scheme with a 5-way selector and VOL/TONE/TONE (does not affect the bridge pickup). Black parts give it a tough look.

Upon arrival the frets were worn to the point of being unplayable, so we chose to give the guitar a refret resulting in a like-new playing feel. You can pick it up and play it hard without any worries.

This Strat has completely different sound character from Fenders currently on the market; being a true 70s Stratocaster. It has a vibrant, shimmering tone, while the maple fretboard allows for attack-driven cutting and crisp single-note playing, giving the guitar a bright character overall.

The texture of the sunburst color also evokes the 70s, and there are rough, discolored patches on the lower part of the body and horn where the poly finish has reacted to the case lining over time. As such, it's not recommended to those who prefer a pristine or your average relic style guitar.

We think it will continue to produce a straightforward, good sound no matter what replacements you make in the future, and it is a guitar I can highly recommend. In the last few years, the price of instruments from the 70s has risen considerably, and more and more music stores are treating them as vintage guitars. This is the kind of guitar you want to cherish and keep for a long time.
