1978 Gibson Les Paul Artisan 3-Pickup – Walnut – Hearts & Flowers – Incredible Condition
1978 Gibson Les Paul Artisan 3-Pickup – Walnut – Hearts & Flowers – Incredible Condition
Description:
One of the most ornate guitars Gibson ever built, and this one is in remarkable shape for its age.
The 1978 Les Paul Artisan is Norlin-era Kalamazoo at its most extravagant: ebony fretboard with mother-of-pearl hearts and flowers inlays, a pre-war style script Gibson logo, multi-ply binding, gold hardware throughout, and the rare three-humbucker configuration, a catalog option in '78.
Condition: Excellent for a 48-year-old guitar. The walnut top is clean and uncluttered. Honest disclosure of everything I found:
- Light binding aging along the neck, consistent with age
- Minor wear near the headstock, which appears to be from sitting in a hanging guitar holder (see photos)
- Nothing else I could find. No cracks, no repairs (Stamped second on the back of the headstock; I can't find the flaw.)
Specs:
- Year: 1978
- Finish: Walnut
- Pickups: 3 humbuckers, gold covers
- Controls: 2 volume, 2 tone, 3-way toggle, plus rhythm/treble switch
- Hardware: Gold, TP-6 fine-tuning tailpiece, gold tuners
- Weight: 11 lbs 5 oz
Case: Not the original, but it includes a Lifton-style Gibson hardshell case that fits and protects it properly.
Artisans in this condition rarely surface, and they're the guitar people hunt down after seeing that fretboard. Whether you're a collector or a player, this one is ready to go.
Shipped fully insured, professionally boxed with the case. Fast shipping and questions welcome.
