[Gibson Pete Townshend SJ-200 Limited (2004)]
A rare signature model commemorating the legendary guitar favored by The Who's iconic guitarist, Pete Townshend. Produced in 2004 in limited numbers, this model is based on Townshend's famous 1960s J-200, originally acquired at a New York guitar shop in 1968 and used extensively on landmark recordings and world stages.
Constructed with a 17-inch Super Jumbo body featuring a solid Sitka Spruce top and premium Flamed Maple back and sides. One of its standout visual highlights is the remarkable, highly figured flamed maple across the neck, back, and sides, displaying stunning three-dimensional depth under the light.
It features a Madagascar Rosewood fingerboard and bridge, adorned with Mother of Pearl graduated crown inlays and a signature "P. Townshend" inlay at the final fret. The neck features a comfortable Slim Profile that accommodates both rhythmic strumming and intricate chord voicings, complemented by gold Grover tuning machines.
Tonally, it delivers a bright, articulate character with superb projection and the expansive dynamic headroom unique to a Super Jumbo. The low end remains tight and defined rather than boomy, providing crisp responsiveness and bold presence when played with aggressive strumming.
[Condition]
- Cosmetic: Scratches, small dings, hardware tarnishing, subtle weather checking visible under light, playwear/fading on the pickguard design, and minor tool marks around the bridge pin holes from previous bridge pin removal. It shows honest age and playwear, but remains in very good overall condition considering its year.
- Frets: Moderate wear primarily in the lower register, with approximately 80% remaining.
- Truss Rod: Adjustable in both directions.
- Neck & Action: Neck is straight. String height at the 12th fret is approx. 2.5 mm on the 6th string and approx. 2.0 mm on the 1st string.
- Saddle: Approx. 3.5 mm on the 6th string side and approx. 2.5 mm on the 1st string side, allowing room for future adjustments.
*Set up with light gauge strings (.012–.054).
*The factory Special Fishman Piezo Pickup System is fully functional at present, though onboard electronics are not covered under warranty.
