Up For Sale is this Vintage 1970 Fender Competition Mustang Bass in red with a matching headstock!
The bass is listed as fair due to pickguard corrosion! The pickguard has been replaced with a phenomenal looking aged replica! The finish along the control plate has also been eaten away pretty bad as well. With the guard off it looks to be the same off gassing effect that melted the finish underarm the pickguard. Doesn’t impact function though! There are multiple added pickguard screws holes under the pickguard from the previous owner!
Aside from the pickguard, everything on this bass is 100% original, even the original thumb test! The original screws were also saved from the original pickguard!
The body is full of minor dings and dents from decades of playwear, and the finish is checking as well! There look to be no signs of overspray! All components are original and electronics have just been tested and deemed fully functional!
The neck is in decent shape shape! Frets have lots of life left in them, and we just gave them a hefty polish and a good board conditioning. There is some heel kick that leads to plinking above the 14th fret, the action is medium high to remedy this! Headstock is in good shape and the finish looks fantastic! Truss rod is tight but still functions!
