2017 Epiphone Wildkat Koa w/ Bigsby and upgrades make this an excellent example of this limited edition and no longer produced semi hollow Epi. These guitars are super cool with a lot of potential after a couple issues with the stock iteration are dealt with. First off, the wiring and pots are known for their excessive length and lower quality which yield a lot of high frequency loss aka muddiness. To deal with this a 920D Custom wiring harness has been installed. In addition to this the original pickups have been rewound and re-wax potted by Buddha Pickups (find here on Reverb). The neck pickup now reads just over 7K and the bridge just over 8K retaining a vintage dogear P90 sound but with a lot more clarity and oomph. The next thing that these guitars are known for an extreme steep string angle from the bridge to the Bigsby roller bar due to the body smaller size causing tuning issues. So to deal with that madness a Biggsfix roller bar has been installed which greatly reduces the string angle. in addition a TonePros roller bridge and squishy spring have also been installed. Now the vibrato is smooth and dynamic with superb tuning stability. The playability in general is excellent with a very comfortable neck and lower action. No sharp or high frets, no buzzing. Just a very comfortable and satisfying playing experience all around. The frets are in excellent condition with a small amount of minor wear in the cowboy chord area and pretty much none anywhere else on the board. The Rosewood on the neck is smooth and feels more like Ebony, not rough and grainy like some Rosewood fretboards can be in the modern day guitar market. Comes with a very nice, clean, plush fitted hard case in excellent condition. Originally these guitars do not include a case nor a gig bag. Note that the upgraded hardware is chrome and not gold. This was done purposely to give the guitar a little more of a rat rod punk-abilly look. It is subtle and kind of gives a CP 30 aesthetic but the original gold hardware is included. No dings or major scratches nor repairs. This guitar also comes with excellent Grover tuners to boot. Guitar has been stored in a the case with a two way humidifier system and in a smoke free home (no weird smells). These Wildkats are rare, especially in this condition and would be a great addition to the axe family for the right player. Honestly this is a great solid and easy player that inspires.
