Yamaha YAS-875EX Custom Alto Saxophone – Near Mint Condition, Freshly Serviced, Perfectly In Tune, Ready to Play, Priced to Sell
This Yamaha YAS-875EX is a Custom EX alto in near mint shape, and it still looks like a horn that was taken care of. The lacquer is clean. You’re not looking at a gigged-out pro alto with worn spots, bag rash, or a bell that’s been knocked around. Serial D19608, made in Japan, original EX, not the later EXII. A few days ago it went through a full professional service. I play tested it several times after that, not just a quick blow. It’s in tune. Tone holes are in great shape. Pads are sealing with no leaks. The sound is that Custom EX voice — focused, with a quicker response than a 62, and enough color when you push it without getting harsh.
The keywork feels light and even. Springs come back quickly without feeling stiff. Soft notes speak instead of hanging, and the upper end stays centered instead of thinning out. Low notes open up without a fight. Nothing in the range feels lopsided. After the service and those extra play tests, it feels finished. You can put a reed on and play. It doesn’t need another shop visit first.
The YAS-875EX is Yamaha’s Custom EX alto, handmade in Japan, and the model a lot of classical and serious jazz players step up to from a 62. The neck and body are built for a tighter, more refined response, with a core that stays centered when you play soft and still has room when you dig in. These show up on recitals, in big bands, and with players who want a pro Yamaha without jumping to a Custom Z price. Near mint examples don’t show up often. Most of the used ones have real playing miles on them.
It comes with a Yamaha Custom 40M mouthpiece in excellent condition, plus three brand new Vandoren reeds, so you can start as soon as it arrives. If you want a near mint 875EX that’s already been serviced, checked more than once, and comes with a real Custom 40M, this is a clean one. It’s priced to sell. Happy to answer questions!
