Pacific Recorders & Engineering PR&E RMX RadioMixer Stereo Line Input Cards – Mooretronix Serviced

For sale are three stereo line-input cards from a Pacific Recorders & Engineering RMX / RadioMixer console.

The RMX was PR&E’s modular professional broadcast console line, designed for serious radio and production use with modular input, routing, cue, monitoring, and control-room functions.

RMX Line Input Card Functions

Each line-input card provides:

• A/B input selection

• Program 1 assignment

• Program 2 assignment

• Off-Line Mix assignment

• L/R input-mode controls

• Cue

• Illuminated ON switching

• Long-throw fader

• Stereo VCA-based level control

• Broadcast machine-control / remote logic

Two of the three cards are marked “MOORETRONIX RMX LINE” and still have their original Mooretronix repair/service tags attached.

Those two cards were still wrapped when I acquired them and appear not to have been installed or used since being serviced. I opened the wrapping only to inspect and photograph them.

Mooretronix Service History

Mooretronix was founded by Bob Moore, a highly respected broadcast engineer and longtime PR&E specialist. Moore worked directly for Pacific Recorders & Engineering from 1985 to 1991 in customer service, giving him factory-level familiarity with PR&E equipment. He later founded Mooretronix, which became well known in the broadcast industry for servicing, rebuilding, and supporting legacy PR&E consoles, including the RMX and BMX series.

Bob Moore had an exceptional reputation among broadcast engineers for the quality of his work and his depth of knowledge of PR&E equipment. His name and Mooretronix service history carry real significance with people familiar with these consoles.

Potential Custom Line Mixer Use

For someone interested in adapting vintage console electronics, these three line-input cards could also make the basis of a unique custom rackmount stereo line mixer.

Each card has two selectable stereo inputs, so the three cards could accommodate up to six connected stereo sources, with three stereo channels selected at a time.

That could make a very useful mixer for:

• Synthesizers

• Keyboards

• Drum machines

• Samplers

• Stereo effects returns

• Other line-level studio gear

A custom conversion would require appropriate power, I/O wiring, and summing/output circuitry.

I got these cards when purchasing PR&E BMX parts, I do not have an RMX frame available to test them, so they are being sold as untested.

Detailed photographs are included showing the front panels, component sides, solder sides, edge connectors, PCB markings, and Mooretronix service tags.
