1970s Roland AP-2 Phase II Effects Pedal
No accessories or original packaging included
Powered by 9v battery only
Made in the short period before the Boss pedal branding came into effect, the AP-2 phaser was part of a small lineup of awesome sounding effects which included the AD-50 Double Beat Fuzz/Wah & the AG-5 Funny Cat Harmonic Mover. With controls for "Rate" and "Resonance" to change both the shape and amount phase of the sine wave, this analog phaser commands a large spread of smooth Leslie-inspired tones. Everything from a slow crawl to wide open tone manipulation comes out of this grandaddy. This 18V effect (two 9V batteries onboard) sounds very similar to a Roland Jet Phaser - just without the Jet feature.
- 6-stage FET-based analog phaser using LM324 operational amplifier chips (shares design lineage with the Roland AP-7 Jet Phaser).
- External knobs for Rate (speed of the phase sweep) and Resonance (depth, feedback, or sine-wave sharpness), plus an internal trim pot for fine-tuning effect intensity.
- Powered by two internal 9V batteries wired in series (18V total operation for high headroom).
- Standard 1/4-inch instrument input jack (right side) and output jack (left side).
- Heavy, robust metal chassis matching the iconic mid-1970s large Roland enclosure style (shared with the CE-1 Chorus Ensemble).
