Vintage 1950's Oahu Electric Lap Steel Guitar
Continuing to thin my collection of stringed instruments (the lap steel category is next), this is a vintage six string Oahu electric lap steel guitar. The serial number X21489 indicates that it was made in the 1950's. Oahu was a music publishing and lesson company cashing in on the Hawaiian/steel guitar craze, not a direct instrument factory. They outsourced their instruments to major Chicago manufacturers like Kay and Regal, as well as Valco/National. The brand sold mail-order lap steel packages with instructional books to popularize Hawaiian music on the U.S. mainland via radio.
The instrument is in exceptional condition.
Comes with original case.
