Monster MNSOLX-BLK Solar X
The Monster MNSOLX-BLK Solar X is an outdoor wireless speaker built for anyone who wants sound and light wherever they go. It's a solar-powered Bluetooth speaker designed for camping trips, tailgates, poolside hangouts, backyard parties, and RV travel. At its core, the Solar X pairs eco-friendly solar charging with genuinely capable audio hardware, all wrapped in a durable, weather-ready housing. Rather than treating solar power as a gimmick, Monster built the speaker around it — giving users a way to keep the music going without hunting for an outlet, while also delivering room-filling, omni-directional sound and a customizable lighting show that sets the mood for whatever's happening around it.

Power and Charging
The Solar X is built around a built-in solar panel that fully recharges the speaker in about 8 hours of sun exposure. Once charged, the speaker delivers over 8 hours of continuous playtime, making it a practical companion for full days outdoors — a day at the beach, an afternoon by the pool, or an evening tailgate. For situations where sunlight isn't an option, or as a backup charging method, the speaker also includes a built-in USB-C port, so it can be topped off from a wall charger, power bank, or vehicle outlet. This dual approach to power means the speaker isn't dependent on any single charging method, giving users flexibility whether they're deep in the woods or parked in a driveway.
Sound and Lighting
Audio performance comes from four 3.5-inch full-range drivers working alongside a down-firing 6.5-inch subwoofer, producing omni-directional sound that projects evenly in every direction rather than favoring a single side. This layout is well suited to outdoor settings where people are gathered around the speaker rather than lined up in front of it. Complementing the sound is a 360-degree ring of adjustable LED ambient lighting, which can be tuned to match the vibe of a gathering — whether that's a low-key evening around a firepit or a livelier backyard event. Both the audio and lighting are managed through Monster's EZ Play 2 app, which handles pairing, audio control, and lighting adjustments from a phone, keeping the physical speaker simple while putting the controls in the user's hands.
Durability and Expandability
Built for real outdoor use, the Solar X carries an IPX5 waterproof rating and a durable plastic housing designed to hold up against rain and general outdoor wear. This makes it suited to unpredictable conditions like poolside splashes or a sudden downpour at a campsite. For bigger gatherings, the speaker can be linked with up to 8 additional Solar X units, allowing sound to be synced and expanded across a larger area — useful for bigger parties, larger campsites, or multi-zone outdoor setups where a single speaker wouldn't be enough to cover the space.
Why We Love This
Our gear experts appreciate the Solar X for its balanced, omni-directional sound — four full-range drivers paired with a down-firing subwoofer deliver even coverage that works for outdoor jam sessions or casual listening alike. The ability to link up to 8 speakers together appeals to musicians who want to scale sound across a larger space without extra gear. Combined with app-based control over audio and lighting, and solar-plus-USB-C charging, it's a flexible, low-maintenance option for outdoor performance or practice settings.
