Sugi NB5PH A 432 Fullmoon Maple/Alder - PGP w/ Clefs 4-Band EQ Preamp[GSB019]

Description

World-Class Mastercraftsmanship from Japan Led by legendary master luthier Makoto "Nick" Sugimoto, Sugi Guitars represents the absolute pinnacle of Japanese boutique bass building. This custom NB5PH A is an exceptionally versatile active 5-string bass, combining rare tonewoods, breathtaking artistic aesthetics, and a custom onboard preamp system approved directly by Sugi Guitars.

Cosmic Concept: "Shooting Star" (PGP Finish)

The visual theme for this custom instrument is inspired by a Shooting Star cutting through a midnight moonlit sky.

• Exotic "FullMoon Maple" Top: Procured after a 2.5-year search, this ultra-rare top wood displays intense, wild grain patterns reminiscent of halo light radiating from a full moon.
• PGP (Purple/Gold/Passage) Finish: Built on a deep night-sky black base, a gradient of gold-to-brown streaks across the waves of the maple top, complemented by subtle turquoise-green accents. The finish accentuates the wood’s natural 3D depth, creating the illusion of a shooting star flashing across a flickering nebula.
• Matching Headstock: Crafted using the same exotic FullMoon Maple top piece to complete the captivating, high-end presentation.

Sugi-Approved Onboard Clefs 4-Band Preamp

After extensive testing and fine-tuning, Sugi Guitars has officially approved the installation of the acclaimed Clefs Preamp system directly into this active model.

• Tested & Validated by Susumu Tamura: The circuit verification was overseen by industry legend Susumu Tamura (the legendary designer behind the Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer), receiving high praise for its musical integrity and transparency.
• 4-Band Active EQ: Delivers precise tonal shaping, boosting desirable frequencies while naturally cleaning up unneeded clutter without compromising the bass’s natural organic acoustic response.
• Passive Emulator Mode: Features a 3-way toggle system allowing seamless switching between Active mode, True Passive mode, and Passive Emulation mode for maximum studio and live versatility.

Tonewoods & Playability

• Alder Body (2-Piece): Selected to give the bass a rich, mid-range punch and tight low-end focus. Alder ensures the bass cuts through dense band mixes effortlessly while providing a smooth foundation for the active electronics.
• Purpleheart Fingerboard: Offers a smooth, neutral tone with immediate note attack, perfectly complementing the Alder body and adding an elegant visual accent.
• Lightweight Performance: Weighing only 3.98 kg (8.77 lbs), it offers exceptional balance, high density of tone, and comfortable playability for extended gigs.
• 34" Scale Length: Standard long-scale layout ensuring a natural, seamless feel for traditional 4-string and 5-string players.
