Up for sale is a historic piece of rock history and vintage craftsmanship: a 1960s Gretsch Renown 8-lug snare drum in a classic Blue and Silver Duco lacquer finish, directly from the personal collection of legendary Quiet Riot drummer Frankie Banali.

This drum includes its official Certificate of Authenticity (COA) from Donn Bennett of Donn Bennett’s Drum Vault, and signed by Frankie Banali's wife

Frankie Banali was not only a powerhouse drummer for Quiet Riot and W.A.S.P., but he was also a passionate collector and restorer of fine vintage drums. This Gretsch Renown snare was part of his meticulously kept stash. The included COA provides ironclad proof of its celebrity heritage, making it an incredible centerpiece for any collector, studio, or fan.

• Finish: Original Blue / Silver Duco lacquer.
• Shell Condition: Typical for its age, the original Duco paint shows beautiful, authentic light checking that can only be seen in certain light. There is no flaking, but there are two very small nicks in the paint. Refer to the photos. In accordance with vintage preservation standards, the drum shell has not been retouched or altered to ensure Frankie's personal mojo and the original vintage patina remain 100% intact.
• Interior: Features the classic, correct Gretsch Silver Sealer interior.
• Hardware: Frankie was in the process of restoring the drum when he passed away. He chose an incredible shell with the original badge. The throw-off is the classic Gretsch 3-point in great condition, which I was told Frankie used to replace the original throw-off.  I believe he also put a new Gretsch butt plate on the shell. I added the appropriate Gretsch lugs and die cast hoops to complete his restoration. The end-result is a 1960s snare that looks great and has that great Gretsch sound that Frankie admired.
