Kawai's SX-210 is a rather rare vintage synthesizer that, despite its unique features and amazing sound quality, was mainly overshadowed by the Roland Juno-106 and Korg Polysix when it was released. The SX-210 features multiple voice modes, allowing a choice between 8-voice polyphony, 4-voice polyphony by doubling up the oscillators in each voice, or a monophonic unison mode, stacking the oscillators all together to create a massive lead sound. It has a unique ensemble effect which widens the stereo sound along with a variety of oscillator shapes including saw, square, pulse with adjustable pulse width modulation, and a separate sub-oscillator section for creating lush, full sounds. Along with having both portamento and glissando functions, the LFO gives the user a choice between a sawtooth, square, and sine wave, each of which can be inverted with the reverse function. After arriving at Syntaur, we were pleasantly surprised by its authentic organ and string sounds, and it has quickly become a favorite among our staff!
