Schecter Guitar Research Solo-II Custom Electric Guitar - Satin Aged Black 113997720

case is sold separately.

The Solo-II Custom electric guitar features a single-cutaway mahogany body with a maple top in your choice of an Aged Black Satin or Transparent Black Burst finish, and a set-in mahogany neck with easy access to the upper registers. The ebony fingerboard has a comfortable compound radius and pearl block position markers. The Solo-II Custom's electronics include Schecter USA Pasadena and Pasadena Plus humbuckers for powerful and cutting tones. Controls include a 3-way pickup selector, individual volume controls and a master tone with push/pull coil tapping. Additional features include gold hardware, TonePros Tune-o-matic bridge, TonePros T1Z tailpiece and Schecter locking tuners, which provide excellent sustain and tight intonation.

Acoustic Foundation & Exotic Visual StylingThe structural design of the Solo-II Custom relies on a time-tested wood formula. Its substantial mahogany core generates a naturally deep, warm low-end and an expansive mid-range emphasis. To inject snap, note definition, and high-frequency sparkle into the core tone, a solid maple top cap is arched over the body. [1, 2]Aesthetically, the guitar swaps out the traditional high-gloss veneer for an understated, tactile Satin Aged Black finish that prevents fingerprints and resists stage glare. This deep matte colorway is dramatically highlighted by an aged crème multi-ply binding running along the top perimeter, fretboard edge, and headstock face. Polished gold hardware ties the look together, creating an aggressive yet sophisticated visual footprint. ]Ergonomics & High-Performance Neck ArchitectureWhile traditional single-cut guitars are notorious for heavy, fatiguing weights and thick, club-like necks, Schecter modernizes the playing experience on the Solo-II Custom. The body features a sculpted Ultra-Access set-neck heel, allowing your hand to reach the 22nd fret seamlessly without crashing into a blocky wooden joint. The 3-piece mahogany neck is carved into a quick, comfortable Thin "C" profile that reduces wrist fatigue during long sessions. To prevent headstock snapping common in traditional builds, a supportive wood volute is carved behind the nut area. The ebony fretboard utilizes an innovative 12"–16" compound radius. At the lower frets near the nut, the fingerboard features a comfortable 12" curve, ideal for natural-feeling open chords and rhythm playing. As you climb higher toward the body, the fretboard flattens out smoothly into a 16" radius. This ultra-flat upper register enables lightning-fast sweep picking and allows for extreme, multi-step string bends without the notes ever "choking out" or buzzing. [1, 2]Custom Shop Level USA Pickups & Wiring MatrixInstead of relying on mass-produced factory pickups, Schecter outfits this model with high-end humbuckers hand-wound in Sun Valley, California. [1, 2]Mahogany body, maple top, black satin finish

  • The Neck Position (USA Pasadena): Voiced closely to an overwound, vintage PAF style humbucker, it utilizes Alnico V magnets and an 8.4k output to provide a smooth, smoky character. It delivers rich, clear clean channels and fluid, vocal-like sustain when saturated. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • The Bridge Position (USA Pasadena Plus): Spun into a modern tone monster, this pickup features an intense 16.0k output rating driven by Alnico V magnets. It handles aggressive, high-gain modern rock and heavy metal with ease, emphasizing a tight low-end, punchy upper-mids, and pristine harmonic tracking that easily cuts through a dense live mix. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

The control layout consists of a standard 3-way toggle selector and separate volume knobs for independent pickup mixing. The master tone knob houses a push-pull coil-tap switch. Pulling the knob outward drops the secondary coils of both humbuckers, transforming the guitar's voice instantly into crisp, snappy, glass-like single-coil spank—perfect for funky rhythm playing, country twang, or ethereal ambient cleans. Rock-Solid Hardware & Gig-Ready ReliabilityTo maximize sustain and lock intonation in place, the guitar features a premium TonePros T3BT Tune-O-Matic bridge and T1Z tailpiece assembly. Both pieces use small internal set-screws that lock securely onto the steel mounting posts. This structural link guarantees complete vibrational transfer from the strings to the wood core while ensuring the bridge pieces don't fall off or alter your setup during string changes. [1, 2]At the headstock, the guitar features a custom Ernie Ball Compensated Nut which modifies the distance of each individual string from the first fret. This design rectifies the sharp intonation flaws common to standard guitar nuts, ensuring open chords near the headstock stay mathematically in tune with one another. Combined with a set of heavy-duty Schecter locking tuners, the guitar maintains exceptional tuning stability even through severe temperature changes or aggressive pitch-bending performance. Would you like to explore how the tonality of these USA Pasadena pickups compares to active pickups like EMGs, or do you need help finding an unlocked flight case that perfectly fits the unique dimensions of this single-cut body?
