A fantastic vintage Rickenbacker 480 finished in classic Jetglo, presented in excellent overall condition for its age.
Introduced in the early 1970s, the Model 480 is essentially Rickenbacker’s distinctive 4000-series bass styling translated into a six-string solid-body guitar. Period Rickenbacker catalogues described it as a full-size, two-pickup model with “4000 bass styling”, making it one of the company’s most instantly recognisable and unusual vintage designs.
The guitar shows the expected age-related playwear, along with a few small dings and dents, but remains structurally solid and has clearly been well looked after over the years.
It has had two sympathetic modifications during its life: The original R tailpiece has been replaced with a Rickenbacker-style chrome trapeze tailpiece. The modification is reversible. Also a phase switch has been added. The additional hole to accommodate it is only in the scratchplate, so no drilling/routing done to the body.
Recently given a full professional setup and fitted with new strings.
