2004 was the best year for the RG470. This is that guitar.
A FujiGen-made RG470L from the sweet spot of the model's history, and essentially the formula that would go on to define the Prestige RGs.
You get the good stuff: Gotoh-made Edge Pro tremolo, 3-piece Wizard II neck, V7/S1/V8 pickups, basswood body, Gotoh tuners and AANJ heel.
The RG470 disappeared after this era morphing into the RG1570 before eventually returning as a much lower-spec, non-Japanese guitar. So if you're looking for the best iteration of the RG470, this is it and is about as good as example as you're likely to find.
It's completely stock, finished in black, and in exceptional condition for a 22-year-old guitar. No modifications, no refinishing, no mystery parts, no damage. Just a very clean example that has survived with almost everything it left the factory with.
That includes the original heavy-duty Ibanez factory gigbag, original tremolo arm, and the original tool kit, including the Prestige-branded tremolo tool and smaller Prestige-branded saddle adjustment tool.
I currently have a different nut fitted because I string my guitars upside-down. The original nut is included and is an easy swap back. Unlike older Ibanez locking nuts, these mount from the top of the neck, avoiding the rear-mounted bolts and the cracking issues associated with them.
I specifically hunted down a 2004 RG470 because this is the greatest version. But after 20 years of playing Les Pauls, I've accepted that my hands simply prefer that kind of guitar, so this one is only being moved only for that reason.
The only dings I can see are around the tremolo rout where a slight depression sits, presumably from some kind of block used during restringing, and there's another teeny couple of marks around the lower edge. I couldn't photograph them sufficiently even with a macro lens.
This is the nerd's RG. FujiGen construction, unbeatable Edge Pro hardware and the higher end V7/S1/V8 electronics, without the later price tag attached to the word Prestige.
If you know Japanese Ibanez guitars, you know exactly what you're looking at.
Pickup Mt Roskill, or we can talk shipping. No dramas to change the nut back for you, I'll just need to procure some strings and you can manage fine-tuning to your preference :)
Shipping: I’m happy to ship internationally. Please note the shipping rate listed is an estimate. Please contact me before purchasing for a more accurate quote to your specific location.
Australia is relatively straightforward from NZ; further afield can get surprisingly expensive, so I’d rather work out the actual cost than build a big guess into the listing.
Any tariffs, duties, import taxes etc are responsibility of the buyer. Insurance procures an extra cost.
