Manne Acoustibass 5 1994 - Transparent Orange

Up for sale is my 1984 Manne Acoustibass 5.  These basses are made in Italy and this particular is confirmed by the manufacture as " very probably their very first " production model of their handcrafted basses. 

Three piece laminate and maple neck.  A synthetic resin, ebonal-type material is used for the lined fretboard. The semi-hollow body ( top I believe is Italian Poplar and Paulina body) with an acoustic chamber under the bridge. The strings pass through the body and then over a saddle with a piezo element and then over a magnetic pickup in the bridge position.  A very simple circuit, volume balance and tone, gives a broad spectrum of sounds, going from a dark, woody double bass sound, to a crisp biting sound.

 It is in good condition for a 42 year old instrument with no major dings. The dual truss rods are functional. Note that the brass nut is loose (not sure if this is intentional or if it should be epoxied in place)when changing the strings and the saddle with piezo element is also not secured to the body so the the bass should be laying flat during a string change. There is a small dent on the back of the neck that I show in the pictures and a very small Nick on the headstock top, which is barely visible, other than that there are no major cosmetic issues. It comes with its original case which is in fair condition. It has some tears in the leather and the leather strap handle has come loose on one end which I tried taping, but it does not hold. It has to held onto the front of the handle to keep it in place when carrying.

Bass is pretty light for a 5 string. I guess it to be around 7-3/4 to 8/14 lbs.
