Takamine FP360SC | Pete Townshend | Japan | 1997
Here is a Takamine from the brand's golden era, built in Japan in 1997! Unlike the well known EN10 model which features a cedar top and mahogany back, this guitar boasts a solid spruce top and solid rosewood back. This combination yields a sound with more sparkle and definition. Additionally, spruce offers significantly more headroom without the tone breaking up, so you can really dig in and strum hard!
Tonally, the guitar is reminiscent of modern high end Takamine models like the P5DC or P7DC; it may have slightly less volume, but the balance is certainly comparable. It sounds fantastic and has aged beautifully over the years!
The electronics are as we’ve come to expect from Takamine superb. This guitar is equipped with the Accuracoustic pickup system, arguably the best sounding vintage preamp they ever produced. The capacitors in the preamp have been replaced, so it sounds even better now! This is a common issue with this preamp model that inevitably requires attention after thirty years.
It features a comfortable, low action and a wonderfully fast neck with binding (a rarity for Takamine), plus perfectly dressed frets with excellent height. In short, this guitar is ready for its next player right out of the box!
