The recipe on every LG5 Standard is the same: Western Red Alder body, Sugar Maple neck, Indonesian Rosewood fingerboard, Alleva Coppolo in-house pickups and bypassable two-band preamp. But wood is an organic thing and every instrument has its own voice. This Surf Green example has more warmth and richness to it than any LG5 I have had through FretSpot recently. The lows are fuller and denser than you would typically expect from an alder body bass, almost closer to the character you associate with mahogany. It is a beautiful and immediately distinctive tonal personality that makes this particular instrument stand out even within a lineup of consistently excellent basses.

The color is a lighter surf green than some others, and really beautiful for it: fresh, classic, and immediately striking against the white pickguard and chrome hardware. Matching painted headstock ties the whole aesthetic together perfectly. Jimmy's Indonesian Rosewood fingerboard is as dark and lustrous as always.
