―――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――

MOMOSE Custom Craft Guitars is a brand of traditional electric guitars and basses named after “Yasuo Momose,” a senior master builder at the Asuka Factory in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture.

It is no exaggeration to say that this brand has long been synonymous with high-quality Japanese-made guitars; it continues to enjoy enduring popularity. Each instrument is meticulously crafted by hand by skilled artisans, who consistently pursue the “ideal musical instrument” from the selection of wood through processing to the final finish.

Based on the “MJ1/R,” which features an alder body paired with a rosewood fingerboard, this is a limited-edition model customized with a red anodized pickguard.

An oil finish is applied. The thin coating achieved through this oil finish allows you to enjoy a direct, resonant tone.

Compared to the standard JB-type design common in MJ models, the horn on the high-string side is cut deeper. This provides excellent playability, allowing even players with large hands to access the higher frets smoothly.

While utilizing the classic plate joint—which brings out the ideal sound—the plate has been recessed to further enhance playability.

The fingerboard sides feature wood binding made from the same material as the fingerboard. This not only creates smooth fingerboard edges but also prevents issues such as fret burrs protruding after years of use.

The original “Gravitas” pickup features re-adjusted pole piece heights to optimize the tonal balance across each string. Its rich sound across the low to mid-range frequencies adds even greater depth and presence to the tone.

Equipped with a “Turbo Switch” that produces a powerful, rich tone when the tone pot is pulled up. Despite its passive circuitry, this expands the tonal range, enhancing the player’s expressiveness and creativity.

All models feature side position markers made of Luminlay, a phosphorescent material that stores light and emits it in the dark. This feature is highly valued by professional musicians and proves invaluable on stages in live music venues and concert halls where lighting is dimmed or reduced. It minimizes the risk of losing sight of your hands in the dark.

Along with the development of the new pickups, we also revisited the capacitors. From among numerous candidates, we selected Centralab’s oil capacitors based on their compatibility with the pickups and other factors. They offer excellent responsiveness to the player’s nuances and a brightness that makes the sound stand out, creating the new Momose tone.
