YAMAHA VINTAGE DRUM KIT- 9000 RECORDING CUSTOM – CHERRY BIRCH

FOR THE 9000 CONNOISSEUR

This shell arrangement was specifically designed to deliver exceptional tonal separation in the recording studio.

The combination of English and Japanese-made 9000 shells was the result of a painstaking process of experimentation over time, comparing different drums, sizes, materials and combinations to achieve the power, tone and tonal separation we were looking for.

The English-made Yamaha 9000 Power Force birch 10" and 13" toms cut with exceptional clarity and attack. The 13" adds tremendous body and power, and both open naturally into the deep, full voice of the Japanese-made 16" floor tom. The 10"–13"–16" progression gives each drum its own harmonic space, while all three resonate beautifully together.

The foundation is the Japanese-made 22" bass drum, which delivers the weight and force, while the Japanese 16" floor tom resonates perfectlywith it.

Every drum earned its place in the kit by sound.

Each drum was chosen over two years of experimenting with different sizes, materials and hardware until we found exactly the right combination of harmonic tone, power and resonance.

It never needs gates when recording. You could drop a single SM57 in the room and it sounded amazing — although we always spoiled it with twenty-five. We set out to build the ultimate attack kit, but one that was also beautifully musical.

This dedicated attention to detail created a one-off studio instrument.

CONDITION

This kit has recorded at Adrenalin Studios in Sheffield since the 1980s and has never been toured.

In good vintage condition and very well looked after. Sadly, after decades in the studio, it's time to let it go.
