Rare Taylor 814-BCE, made in El Cajon, California in 2000, serial number 20000926136.

This is the Brazilian rosewood version of the 814-BCE, featuring a Grand Auditorium body with cutaway, highly figured Brazilian rosewood back and sides, spruce top, ebony fingerboard and bridge, abalone rosette, gold tuners and the original Fishman Prefix Onboard Blender pickup/microphone system.

The guitar also features the distinctive decorative motif on the upper back associated with this limited-production 814-BCE series.

It has recently been professionally inspected and set up by a luthier and is fully functional and ready to play. The Fishman electronics are working correctly.

The guitar is supplied with its original Taylor hardshell case.

Condition

The instrument presents beautifully overall, particularly considering its age, but it has an important cosmetic issue that I want to describe very clearly.

In two localized areas on the back/side of the body, the transparent finish has lifted and partially separated from the wood underneath. Both areas are shown clearly and closely in the photographs.

The issue was inspected by a professional luthier, who did not consider it appropriate to intervene on the finish, so it has intentionally been left untouched rather than attempting a cosmetic restoration.

There are also normal signs of use and age elsewhere on the instrument, including some wear to the hardware.

No attempt has been made to conceal or digitally remove any of these cosmetic imperfections from the photographs.

This guitar comes from my father’s private collection. He is a lifelong guitarist and enthusiast who collected instruments over many years, and I am gradually selling part of his collection, which includes classical, acoustic, archtop and electric guitars from a variety of makers and periods.
