The StingRay EX was a Japan-market model officially licensed by Ernie Ball Music Man during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Unlike many domestic-market instruments of the era, the StingRay EX was assembled in Japan using the same U.S.-made electronics and hardware found in contemporary American StingRay models. Combining genuine Music Man pickups, preamp, and hardware with Japan's renowned craftsmanship, the EX delivers the unmistakable StingRay tone and feel that made the USA models famous.
This particular example dates to 1997, supported by matching factory pencil dates found in both the neck pocket and neck heel. It features the sought-after 3-band active EQ system and retains its original metal battery cover and electronics.
