The Jettenuator is a power attenuator and load box designed by Mike Soldano for tube amplifiers up to approximately 80–100 watts. It allows you to push an amp's power amp stage to achieve its natural saturation while significantly reducing the volume sent to the speaker cabinet, with a full load that also allows it to operate without a speaker cabinet. It accepts 4, 8, or 16 ohm outputs, with only one impedance used at a time. Its main advantage is its versatility: an attenuated speaker output, an adjustable line output for sending the signal to effects or a power amp, and, most importantly, an XLR MicSim output with speaker cabinet simulation, allowing you to record or directly feed a mixing console without a microphone or speaker cabinet. The maximum attenuation, however, remains around -3 dB when the control is set to 9; it is therefore particularly useful for making a loud amp work at a more reasonable level rather than for consistently achieving absolute silence.
