2007 Gibson Custom Shop CS-336 - Ebony | USA All Solid 13'' Semi-Hollow ES-336 Carved '57 Classic Humbucker 3.25kg | CoA OHSC
I am offering a Gibson CS-336 Ebony from 2007, a handcrafted in the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, Tennessee (USA), luxury semi-hollow electric guitar model featuring a compact 13-inch body size, solid carved maple top and one-piece carved body made of solid mahogany, set mahogany neck with Slim “C” neck profile, bound rosewood fingerboard with classic pearl dot inlays, two warm Gibson ’57 Classic humbucker pickups, high-quality Gibson ABR-1 bridge with lightweight aluminum stopbar, as well as Gibson Deluxe Vintage Keystone tuners in a classic high-gloss ebony nitro finish with single-ply cream binding, in very good condition, including Gibson Custom Shop luxury hardshell case, C.o.A. and professional setup with 10-46 Elixir strings.
The Gibson ES-336 was first introduced in 1996 at the NAMM Show in Anaheim, California. The ES-336’s design represented a blend of the ES-335 and the Les Paul, with the vision of combining the best characteristics of an archtop, semi-hollow, and solid-body electric guitar. In 2001, the further-developed CS-336 was released, featuring a solid center block and a “tonally carved” body.
This 2007 Gibson CS-336 Ebony also features a body carved from a solid block of mahogany with integrated resonance chambers. Unlike classic semi-hollows, the body here is not constructed from sides and a center block but is carved as a single piece, resulting in particularly homogeneous vibration transmission. The solid maple top complements the warm foundation of the mahogany with clarity, attack, and defined highs. With its manageable 13-inch body size, the CS-336 feels significantly more compact in the hand than an ES-335 while offering remarkable acoustic resonance.
The glued one-piece mahogany neck with a slim “C” profile plays with a pleasantly fast and balanced feel—ideal for both expressive chord playing and precise single-note lines. The bound rosewood fingerboard, featuring classic pearl dot inlays and 22 Authentic Medium Jumbo frets, offers a familiar Gibson feel with excellent control and clean intonation across the entire 628mm scale length.
Sonically, the two Gibson ’57 Classic humbuckers deliver a warm, open, and three-dimensional tone with pronounced dynamics and a refined response. When played clean, it produces an airy, woody tone with clear articulation; when distorted, the guitar impresses with creamy sustain, rich mids, and controlled highs—perfect for blues, jazz, classic rock, and sophisticated fusion sounds.
A sound sample of this model can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.
Visually, the guitar features a timeless high-gloss ebony nitrocellulose finish, stylishly accented by cream-colored bindings. Weighing just 3.25 kg, the CS-336 is also pleasantly light and superbly balanced.
