I bought this unit in 2014 to help prove a copyright lawsuit for songs I had written in 1998 on my first Yamaha MT8X 8-track porta-studio, exactly like this one. It was ahead of its time and the built-in EQ and preamp sound shockingly good. Works perfectly but is currently missing a $20 tape speed button. I never bothered to buy a replacement part because you shouldn't be changing the tape speed anyway. I've always used it in bypass mode where it records at the highest tape speed possible to maximize quality. I've also recently tested it dumping all my tapes onto Pro Tools so I know everything works properly and I've never had a single issue. There are a few scratches that you can see in the picture but other than those, it's in much better shape than one would expect for a 30+ year old Porta studio.
I'm also including a near bullet proof Samsonite hard shell brief case for it. That case is a freaking tank and could protect the unit even if you threw it down a flight of stairs!
