This 2013 Fender American Vintage ’56 Stratocaster is a fantastic example of the American Vintage series at its best, combining vintage-correct ’50s specifications with the playability and consistency of a modern Fender Custom Shop–inspired instrument. Finished in Aged White Blonde over an alder body with a very thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish, this Strat has the understated, slightly translucent appearance that makes these thin-skin AVRI instruments so appealing. The finish shows a couple of very small dings consistent with the exceptionally thin nitro lacquer, but overall the guitar remains in very good condition and presents beautifully.

The ’56 specification gives you a classic soft-V maple neck, vintage-style 7.25” radius fingerboard, and vintage frets, along with a traditional six-screw synchronized tremolo and vintage-style tuning machines. The three vintage-style single-coil Strat pickups deliver the familiar combination of glassy highs, woody mids, and percussive low end that makes an early-’50s Strat so versatile. It has plenty of snap and sparkle on the bridge pickup, that unmistakable hollow cluck in positions 2 and 4, and a warm, rounded neck position that works beautifully for everything from clean rhythm to edge-of-breakup blues.

This particular guitar plays and sounds amazing, with the comfortable vintage-style neck profile, responsive tremolo, and excellent acoustic resonance you hope to find in a good AVRI. The thin nitro finish has also begun to develop the kind of subtle character that makes these guitars especially appealing to players who want the look and feel of an old Fender without the price—or fragility—of an original vintage instrument.

The guitar includes the original Fender hardshell case, all original paperwork, and the complete case candy.
