The Flashback X4 puts a considerable range of delay sounds under one roof, with 12 delay types covering everything from warm, warbling Tape and Tube sounds to Analog, Reverse, Dynamic, Slap, Lofi, Ping Pong, and the crisp response of the 2290 inspired modes. Four additional positions on the delay type selector are dedicated to TonePrint settings, making this a particularly flexible delay for players who like to move between classic echo textures and more adventurous sounds.

Flashback X4 Presets and Tap Tempo

Three footswitch accessible preset locations make the X4 a practical choice when one delay sound simply will not cover the gig. Each preset stores the settings of the delay module, including a TonePrint when one of the four TonePrint slots is selected. A dedicated Tap footswitch handles tempo, while the subdivision selector provides quarter notes, dotted eighth notes, or quarter notes and dotted eighth notes together. Delay time reaches up to seven seconds for most delay types.

Integrated Looper for Creative Performance

Flip the Looper and Delay switch and the Flashback X4 becomes a dedicated looping tool, using its four footswitches for recording, playback, one shot playback, and undo or redo functions. The delay remains available while looping, so delayed parts can be recorded directly into a loop and layered with additional performances. Separate Delay Level and Looper Level controls make it easy to balance the two sections. Loops are temporary and are erased when the pedal is powered off.

Stereo Delay with MIDI Expression and TonePrint Support

Mono and stereo inputs and outputs give the Flashback X4 plenty of routing flexibility, with automatic sensing for mono and stereo operation. MIDI In accepts MIDI Clock for delay tempo and Program Change messages for recalling the three presets, while MIDI Thru passes incoming MIDI information to another device. An expression pedal input can be assigned to Delay Time, Feedback Level, Delay Level, or a combination of those parameters. TonePrint settings can be transferred to the pedal through USB or compatible beaming methods.
