Stunning handcrafted Compass Rose tenor ukulele by Rick Turner / Renaissance Guitars of Santa Cruz, California.

Stamped “12” and “311” along the top edge of the headstock, identifying this instrument as a 2012 Compass Rose, serial / build #311.

This is an especially beautiful higher-spec example featuring an exceptionally figured solid koa body with dramatic curl and figuring throughout the top, back, sides, and headstock face.

Compass Rose ukuleles are among Rick Turner’s most distinctive acoustic designs, inspired by historic Howe-Orme instruments and incorporating Turner’s cantilevered fingerboard design. The fingerboard extends over the body without resting directly on the soundboard, allowing the top greater freedom to vibrate.

CONDITION:

Overall in very good condition with normal light signs of previous use and handling.

The instrument presents exceptionally well, and the highly figured koa is the standout feature. The figuring extends across the top, back, sides, and headstock and changes dramatically depending on the viewing angle and lighting.

The signature Compass Rose construction includes the cantilevered fingerboard, player-facing side soundport, Howe-Orme-inspired body shape, compass rosette, and distinctive headstock treatment.
