1989 Ibanez RG570 Lipstick Red – Made in Japan
A highly collectible first-year RG570 from 1989, finished in the striking and seldom-seen Lipstick Red metallic with a matching headstock.
The RG570 was introduced in 1989, making this an early first-year example from Ibanez’s celebrated late-1980s Japanese production era. Lipstick Red was offered on this version in 1989 and is considerably less commonly encountered than Black or Jewel Blue.
Built in Japan by FujiGen, the guitar features the classic early RG formula: an ultra-thin one-piece maple Wizard neck, rosewood fingerboard, basswood body, 24 jumbo frets and the legendary Original Edge double-locking tremolo.
Neck and Body Factory Markings:
The neck was removed for inspection and photographed clearly.
The neck heel carries an “RG550R” factory stamp, while the neck pocket/body is marked “570.” This type of mixed internal component marking is a known production characteristic of late-1980s Japanese Ibanez RG guitars.
During this period, compatible neck components were shared across the closely related RG5xx production line. The internal stamp generally identified the neck/component specification and did not necessarily correspond exactly to the final assembled model number.
The “R” designation is consistent with the rosewood-fingerboard version of the neck, which is correct for an RG570. The RG550 and RG570 shared the same basic Wizard neck construction, while the RG570 was distinguished principally by its rear-routed, pickguard-free body and rosewood fingerboard.
Therefore, the RG550R neck stamp together with the 570 body marking should not by itself be interpreted as evidence of a later neck replacement or a parts guitar. Photographs of both factory markings are included for complete transparency.
Pickups:
The factory specification for a 1989 RG570 was an HSH set consisting of an Ibanez V1 neck humbucker, S1 middle single coil and V2 bridge humbucker.
The pickup configuration currently installed is not a complete factory-original V1/S1/V2 set. At least part of the pickup set has been changed. Please examine the detailed photographs for the currently installed pickups.

Condition:
The guitar is in good overall condition for a 37-year-old instrument and still presents beautifully.
It has honest vintage playwear, including small dings, scratches, finish chips and areas of finish checking. Visible finish lines are present around the neck-pocket area, together with wear around the output jack and body edges. All notable cosmetic marks have been photographed clearly.
Please study all close-up photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.
Despite the cosmetic wear, the guitar retains its vivid metallic Lipstick Red appearance and remains a very attractive example of an early Japanese RG570.
This is an excellent opportunity for a player or collector seeking a first-year RG570 in one of its most distinctive period finishes, with its internal factory markings fully documented.
The guitar will be carefully packed for international shipping. Please contact me for additional photographs, measurements or a shipping quotation to your country.
