The 2006 Fender Made in Mexico (MIM) 60th Anniversary HSS Stratocaster is a standard Mexican-built guitar that features a 2006 anniversary headstock medallion or special run designation rather than a rare, high-end collector's item.
Understanding the 2006 Anniversary Marking
- The Emblem: Fender placed a 60th-anniversary logo sticker or button on the back of the headstock for almost all 2006 production models.
- The Distinction: The true limited-edition "60th Anniversary Commemorative" Stratocaster was an American-made instrument with special upgrades.
- Mexican HSS Models: The HSS (Humbucker-Single-Single) versions from Mexico were standard production or Factory Special Run (FSR) guitars with the commemorative badge.
Core Specifications
- Body Material: Crafted from solid alder, delivering a balanced tone and good resonance.
- Neck Material: Built with a maple neck and fretboard, typically featuring 21 medium-jumbo frets.
- Pickup Layout: Uses an Fender Mexican Standard Stratocaster HSS configuration with a bridge humbucker for heavier rock or metal tones, paired with two single-coil pickups for classic clean sounds.
- Bridge: Equipped with a standard vintage-style synchronized tremolo bridge.
Performance and Value
- Build Quality: These instruments offer solid build quality and reliability identical to standard mid-2000s Mexican Fenders.
- Market Value: Used prices generally range between $400 and $700 depending on the specific finish, condition, and inclusion of the original gig bag.
- Upgrades: Many players use these guitars as a platform to upgrade pickups, switches, and hardware.
