2001 Gibson J-45 “Irregular”

This is a very unusual Gibson J-45 from 2001.

Although the original label identifies the model as a J-45, this particular instrument features several details that are quite uncommon for a standard J-45 of this period.

The fingerboard has a Nick Lucas-style mother-of-pearl inlay, while the binding and trim feature herringbone purfling, which is unusual for a Gibson J-45.

This guitar is an already unusual “irregular” example that has been further customized with carefully selected parts.

Repair History

The guitar had a previous repair history when I acquired it.
An old crack was found on the top, near the binding.

The crack has been properly repaired and secured. Internal cleats were carefully positioned from inside the guitar to provide appropriate reinforcement while keeping the repair as minimal as possible.

The repaired area on the outside is largely concealed by the large custom pickguard.

The frets have been replaced, and the nut and saddle have also been replaced and properly adjusted.

As a result, the guitar is currently in very comfortable playing condition.
