Gibson SG Faded – 2018
Based on the traditional SG design, this model features Gibson’s Worn Bourbon finish, applied in a faded gloss nitrocellulose lacquer for a distinctive, understated vintage-inspired appearance.
The guitar features a straightforward combination of a mahogany body, maple Slim Taper neck, and rosewood fingerboard.
Its lightweight SG body provides excellent maneuverability, while the Slim Taper neck offers a smooth and comfortable playing feel.
The guitar is equipped with a pair of Gibson 490R / 490T humbuckers. The neck-position 490R delivers a thick, warm tone, while the bridge-position 490T provides a powerful and punchy sound. Together, they offer plenty of versatility for rock and a wide range of other genres.
The traditional 2 Volume / 2 Tone control layout and 3-way toggle switch provide familiar operation, while allowing detailed tone shaping directly from the guitar.
The bridge and tailpiece feature an aluminum Tune-O-Matic and Stop Bar. Combined with the mahogany body and lightweight hardware, they contribute to the quick response and comfortable handling characteristic of the SG.
The Worn Bourbon faded finish has a more subdued texture and appearance than a conventional high-gloss finish. Its naturally worn-in aesthetic complements the SG’s classic design particularly well.
Dot inlays, a black 4-ply pickguard, and vintage-style keystone tuners complete the simple yet unmistakably SG-inspired appearance.
