Fender Musicmaster II with Rosewood Fretboard 1966 - Black
For sale is a 1966 Fender Musicmaster II with nice mods and undeniable mojo. A working guitarist in the Boston area bought it in its current form in the '70s, and he used it as his primary instrument for decades. He told me that the modifications were all done by a prior owner. It was refinished in what looks to be black nitro- based off of the paint in the neck pocket I think it was originally Daphne blue. The finish has faded and worn over the decades as you would expect from nitro, with some dents and dings. The neck has wear and finish checking, and the headstock logo is faded but clearly visible. There is fret wear but it is still very playable, with low action. Please carefully review the photos, as they describe the condition.
The neck pickup and pots are original, as are the bridge, knobs, and control plate. Later additions include the tuners, nut, pickguard, toggle switch, and bridge humbucker of unknown origin. The neck heel, neck pickup, and pots are all dated 1966. The serial number on the neck plate dates to 1960- the factory may have used an old neck plate that was lying around, or it was installed later.
This is a very vibey vintage guitar, and a great player. It ships in a vintage hard case, carefully packed, and insured with Reverb Safe Shipping. Message with any questions, thanks. I ship internationally, message me and I will update the shipping option for your country.
I do not ship to PO boxes, and will cancel any order that has a PO box for a delivery address. Please carefully examine the photos prior to purchase. I am happy to answer any questions about the item, including sending more photos if needed. Please be aware that humidity, temperature, and handling can affect guitars & basses such that adjustments to the instrument might be needed post-shipment. This includes "fret sprout" (as wood shrinks/swells during shipment, a fretted instrument may arrive with sharp fret edges). If tweaking action, intonation, etc., having fret edges dressed, or having the instrument set up to your specs is not something you are comfortable with doing yourself, you will need the help of a local-to-you tech/professional. Note that any associated fees incurred for their time and labor will be your responsibility. This written description is not necessarily inclusive of all features of the guitar.
