In 1960, Gibson looked at Martin's dreadnought and decided to build its own answer — square shoulders instead of sloped, a cherry sunburst nobody had put on a flat-top before, and a hummingbird engraved across the pickguard like it belonged in a museum instead of a honky-tonk. It was the company's first square-shoulder guitar, full stop, and it's been in continuous production ever since.
Keith Richards is the reason most people can pick this guitar out of a lineup. He grabbed one in 1964, and it stuck — "Wild Horses," "Angie," "Street Fighting Man," and "Jumpin' Jack Flash" all have a Hummingbird in the mix. That's the guitar you're looking at here, six decades later, still built the same way in the same Montana shop.
This one's a 2014 Standard, which means you get the real recipe without the vintage-reissue markup: solid spruce over solid mahogany, the same printed hummingbird on tortoise. Gibson wired it with a factory LR Baggs Element pickup, so it's stage-ready without anyone having to route a body or bolt on an aftermarket system. Comes with a hardshell case.
New Standards are pushing close to $4,000 now. This is the same guitar, already earning its keep, for less.
This is a USED Instrument in VERY GOOD condition.
