Vintage Yamaha YTR-232S Silver-Plated Bb Trumpet — Made in Japan — Original Owner — Original Case, Yamaha No. 11 Mouthpiece & Paperwork
Vintage Yamaha YTR-232S silver-plated Bb trumpet, made in Japan, serial number 024638A. I am the original owner and believe I purchased the trumpet circa 1977, when I joined my school jazz band.
The trumpet has remained with me since then and is being offered with an unusually complete group of its original and period accessories and paperwork.
Included are:
- Yamaha YTR-232S silver-plated trumpet, serial no. 024638A
- Original Yamaha Japan No. 11 mouthpiece
- Original fitted Yamaha hard case
- Original Yamaha owner's manual, specifically covering the YTR-232/YTR-232S trumpet and YCR-231/YCR-231S cornet
- Original blank Yamaha International Corporation warranty card
- Lyre
- Removable third-valve-slide finger ring
- Harmon mute
- Cleaning rod
The trumpet retains an attractive, bright silver-plated appearance. The Yamaha model and serial-number markings and the separate Yamaha/Japan markings are clearly shown in the photographs.
The listing includes detailed photographs of the bell and bell interior, leadpipe/mouthpiece receiver, valve block, all three removed valve pistons, tuning and valve slides, water-key assemblies, mouthpiece, case, paperwork and accessories so that the instrument's condition can be examined closely.
The photographs show the actual trumpet, case, paperwork and accessories being offered and form an important part of the description.
Condition
Excellent vintage cosmetic condition overall. The trumpet shows normal evidence of age and use, including light surface scratches, minor finish/plating wear and localized discoloration. Please examine the detailed photographs closely for the cosmetic condition of the silver-plated surfaces.
A minor part of the main tuning slide remains slightly extended when fully inserted, as shown in the photos.
The original Yamaha hard case is structurally presentable but shows considerably more age and use than the trumpet, including exterior scuffs, edge and corner wear, wear to the covering and stitching, and aging of the hardware. The fitted brown interior also shows normal age and use. Please refer to the case photographs for its condition.
The original owner's manual and blank warranty card show age and handling wear consistent with their vintage.
The trumpet was examined by an instrument shop technician who described valve compression as “good.”
