This is a black Jazz Bass V Plus (5 string). From the 1990s. It has had its neck replaced with a Warmoth neck and Gotoh tuners at some point.
Frankly, this neck is better than the original with a wonderful rosewood board (originals had Pau ferro boards). There were common issues with the headstocks on the Jazz Bass Plus line, especially the 5 string models where there were often cracks in the headstock in or around the lower tuning keys. It may have been related to the fact that the Jazz Bass Plus headstocks were a little thinner or narrower than on standard J Basses. If you look closely at photos of others you will often see this. This neck is solid and strong with no cracks.
It's in great players shape although the finish does have the cosmetic marks of being 30+ years old.
What makes this model of the Jazz Bass unique and especially attractive to those who know are the Lace Sensor pickups in conjunction with the Kubicki pre-amp. It's the best!
The reality is I don't play much anymore, and I can't really justify hanging on to it. It comes with a Fender gig bag. Currently strung with black tape wound strings. Please review the photos and ask any questions.
