Simply an exquisite example from the Hawaii era, perhaps the prime years of James Goodall's building career. Every component of this guitar is of the highest order. 14 fret Venetian cutaway. 25.5" scale with 1 3/4" nut. Master Engelmann spruce top is the nicest I've ever seen. AAA East Indian Rosewood back and sides. Abalone shell rosette with no fretboard inlay. Curly koa body, backstrip, and headstock binding. Ebony peghead veneer, fretboard with mitered fretboard extension, fretboard binding, winged bridge, bridge pins. Bone nut and saddle. Mahogany satin finish neck. Frets show only moderate wear in the first position. Clear pickguard with a very slight area of delamination at 2:00 by the rosette (less than the head of a thumb tack). Schaller chrome mini tuners with ebony buttons. There was a factory installed pick up which has been removed. A custom ebony end pin has been fabricated to fit perfectly and to look normal. Original TKL hardshell case in excellent shape.

Sound is other worldly. The very best Goodall I've owned out of at least a dozen. Playability is effortless with low action and perfect break angle over the saddle. Excellent+ condition. No cracks or repairs of any kind. Minimal wear on a 30 year old guitar that has blossomed over that time. This guitar is every bit as good, and maybe better, than boutique builds that run well up into five figures. Indeed, Goodalls in general are bargains for what they are, and this one is exceptional. I contacted Goodall Guitars about this one. They sent me the spec sheet. I didn't ask for it but they included the price to build this same guitar today: $10,725.00.
