The Philosopher's Tone CSD is the distortion-equipped variant of Pigtronix's optical compressor platform. The enclosure prints six controls: GRIT, SUSTAIN, BLEND, TREBLE, VOLUME, and ENGAGE. The CSD adds the GRIT circuit to the core Philosopher's Tone compression and sustain engine. Made in the USA.

Surface scratches and scuffs on the enclosure top and sides, consistent with regular use. Knobs and hardware are intact. Footswitch and LED are present and accounted for. Bottom label is clean and fully legible.
