Yamaha CS60 Polyphonic Synthesizer (Vintage)
Recently serviced and in great working order. Includes original chrome legs and 3 months warranty. Due to size, weight and general consideration for synth wellbeing, this is collection only from North London.
The Yamaha CS-60 (released in 1977) is an 8-voice polyphonic analog synthesizer. Acting as a smaller, more portable counterpart to the legendary Yamaha CS-80, it delivers the same iconic vintage tones, expressive aftertouch, and ribbon controller in a streamlined package. While incredibly heavy, the CS-60 is renowned for its organic, emotional, and warm sound. It has been favoured by legendary artists such as Jean-Michel Jarre, Air, and Gary Numan.
Key Features:
- Sound Engine: It features one oscillator per voice with square, saw, pulse-width modulation (PWM), and a noise generator, supplemented by a sub-oscillator and a highly regarded built-in ring modulator.
- Filter Section: Powerful, dual resonant high-pass and low-pass filters allow for distinct sweep effects and complex band-pass combinations.
- Expressive Controls: The 61-note keyboard is touch-sensitive and supports mono aftertouch, while a built-in ribbon controller allows for highly expressive pitch bending and modulation.
- Memory Limitations: The synth primarily relies on 12 hardwired front-panel presets, offering just one hidden, user-programmable patch location accessible via a trapdoor on the front panel
