- Marshall Super Lead foundation — upper-mid bite, crunch and roar.
- RAT-like aggression — harder clipping, more grind and edge than something like a typical Bluesbreaker/Plexi-style OD.
- Fairly dynamic despite the amount of clipping.
- Presence control in addition to Volume, Gain and Tone, make it easier to dial the top-end attack to your amp.
- More capable of distortion / borderline fuzzy grind than a conventional low-gain Marshall overdrive.
Vntage Tone themselves describe the Black Vertigo as having “character, body, constant dynamics, aggressiveness and sharpness” and essentially being a Marshall roar in a small box. The pedal is handmade in Mexico and uses some NOS components, Neutrik jacks, true bypass and a distinctive Western-style Tolex/vinyl-covered enclosure.
