Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at an excellent sounding 1980's era Audio Technica ATM41A model dynamic cardioid microphone that has very strong output and set at Low Z making this an excellent choice for singing and broadcasting purposes. It comes with the mic clip, padded mic sleeve, data sheet, cable and mic case shown. This is a fantastic Audio Technica product an easily on par with any fine dynamic mic of that era even sounding far better than most new mics of today. A very masculine and aggressive looking mic that was made in Japan and built to last.

Pic # 2 shows an old Audio Technica ATM41A data sheet I have that shows the mics basic characteristics. The original data sheet is included which is shown in pic # 4.

This mic is set at 250 OHMS (low impedance) and sounds very similar to The very popular Shure SM-58 model mic. This was Audio Technica's competition to that Shure SM-58 and just like the SM-58 the ATM41A is very rugged, reliable and has excellent tone. If you've never heard one of these before then you'll be absolutely impressed. Audio Technica really came into their own during the 1980's and 90's.

Most mics being manufactured in Japan at this time were often some of the finest on the market due to the high quality control and superior design that was being implemented. Even Electro Voice sold several of their models made in Japan at that time.

The ATM41 is was the 1st gen model that was set at 600 OHMS where as the 2nd gen ATM41A model sold at 250 OHMS. Audio Technica decided to tamper down the amount of bass in the 2nd gen model but both mics sound extremely nice and I would strongly suggest either for singing or broadcasting.

This ATM41A has a smooth warm tone that will be greatly appreciated by any musician or broadcaster using it. It's uni-directional as well blocking out most background noise.

This ATM41A has an attractive black / grey paint scheme on an all metal body and again, quite rugged. This mic has a bit of weight to it as well. Built like a tank. It comes with the plastic mic clip as well so you can mount the mic to any desk or floor stand you have. The mic clip is just as nice as the mic and it has a all plastic construction.

It's a very appealing stick mic and the pop filter is top notch. You can use a larger foam exterior pop filter if you want for improved sound but the stock is just fine. I did replace the inner foam pop filter as the original was shot but there is a very unique and practical inner silk screen as well and it's in perfect condition.

As you can see there is just very lite cosmetic wear on the painted finish of this mic. Just lite scuff marks and lite scratches but it's free of dents or fractures. The front screen is metal and free of any odors, tarnish or dents. The Audio Technica label shows lite wear but it's completely legible.

This mic is appx 7 inches tall X 2 inches wide at the tip.

The mic takes a standard XLR cable. The cable is appx 10 feet long and it's an Audio Technica brand. Soft, pliable and in excellent physical and working condition. It has the Neutrik XLR connectors as well. I did clean the XLR pins on the cable and mic as they were a bit tarnished. This will ensure a perfect signal once the cable is attached.

Overall I would rate this mic an 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10 in the cosmetic department.

The brown vinyl mic sleeve is included to cover the mic with to prevent physical damage. It's in perfect shape as it the original mic case. The base has a nice black vinyl exterior with a perfect inner foam pad and place for the cable. The locking latch works great too.

If you need a real work horse that is a bit more obscure these days then this Audio Technica ATM41A will absolutely get the job done and these were so well built that it should last another 40 to 50 years easy.
