Sho-Bud Pro II Double Neck 1973 Two Tone Brown and Blonde

This is a gorgeous instrument that was rebuilt and refinished. I replaced the single-coil pickups with Bill Lawrence L-XR 16s. They each have a coil split switch. I will bind the case together for shipping, but it is not fit for regular use, so you will need to replace it or repair it if you're hauling it around regularly.

Vintage Sho-Bud Tone Monster and Eye Candy! 
Many experts consider the 1973-74 Pro II the best Sho-Bud Pedal Steel ever built. Why? Because it still had the key parts machined from aluminum vs. later models that used cast "pot metal" for many parts.  Lloyd Green and Ricky Davis are just two pros who choose to play Sho-Bud's from this era when they could play just about any brand they wanted (although both usually play single necks). You also see many of these beautiful old Sho-Buds played by the top Sacred Steel players, like Kashiah Hunter.

 This particular guitar has 8 pedals and 4 knee levers with a very standard copedent (arrangement of pedals and knee levers). The pedals are the old style wide pedals that many people love, particularly those who play barefoot.  It is an Emmons setup, with left knees raising and lowering the E's. The two right knee levers work on both necks. It has the classic "round front" style which was not made after 1974, the sweet "rope" inlay, and the "Gumby" keyheads. 

The instrument was a wreck when I bought it, but I did a thorough restore on it. The finish was coming off in pieces, so I refinished cabinet and cleaned and polished all the metal to a nice matte shine. This is a very beautiful guitar that would look stunning in anyone's living room. But it is still a player's guitar, not a museum piece. It has some minor dings and scratches - after all, it is about to turn 46!

Most of the parts are original, but additional parts were I added were all made by the late James Morehead, one of the better machinists making quality parts for Sho-Buds.  The mechanicals on this model are referred as "barrels behind two hole pullers", an elegantly simple mechanism that gives you nearly unlimited freedom the change or add raises and lowers as needed. They are good guitars for people who like to tinker, but are new to pedal steels as they are very easy to work on. If purchasing this guitar, expect it to need some mild adjusting upon arrival.
