Pianoteq 9 Standard is the tier where the model opens up. Everything in Stage is here, the same physical modelling engine, the same instant load and tiny install, the same continuous dynamic response with no velocity layers. What Standard adds is the ability to change the instrument rather than only play it.

Piano model tweaking is the headline. Hammer hardness, string length, soundboard character, unison width and sympathetic resonance are all adjustable, so a bright pop piano and a warm ballad piano come from the same model rather than needing two libraries. Advanced tuning covers temperament and stretch, which matters for historical repertoire and for anyone working outside equal temperament.

Microphone setting is the other big one. You place and mix the microphones around the modelled instrument, which is the control a sampled piano can never give you because its mic positions were fixed at recording time. Standard also loads external reverb impulses, and does instrument morphing and layering, so you can blend two instruments into something that does not exist.

Note-per-note editing arrives here as well, covering volume, detune and attack envelope on individual keys, which is how you voice a piano the way a technician would. Three instrument packs are included, chosen by you during registration.
