Marantz Model 4300 Stereo 2 + Quadradial 4 Receiver – Professionally Serviced / Custom Solid Wood Case

Offered here is an excellent example of the classic Marantz Model 4300 Stereo 2 + Quadradial 4 receiver, professionally serviced and operating superbly. The 4300 was one of Marantz's large, sophisticated quadraphonic receivers of the 1970s, combining substantial stereo power with genuine four-channel capability, Marantz's Vari-Matrix processing, built-in Dolby circuitry, and the unmistakable blue illuminated dial and Gyro-Touch tuning system.

This example has received extensive professional service intended to provide reliable long-term operation. Work performed includes:

• Amplifier section recapped
• Power supply recapped
• LED illumination upgrade
• New vellum paper installed for clean, even dial illumination
• Controls, potentiometers and switches thoroughly cleaned
• DC offset and amplifier bias checked and properly adjusted
• All functions tested for correct operation

The result is an exceptionally nice-performing 4300. Operation is smooth and dependable, controls work properly, and the receiver sounds excellent.

Cosmetic condition is also excellent. The faceplate, dial area, knobs and controls present beautifully, with very little visible wear from previous use. Please examine the detailed photographs, including the interior photographs, for the condition of the actual receiver being offered.

A particularly attractive feature of this example is its handmade solid wood cabinet. Unlike a simple veneer-over-particle-board enclosure, this substantial custom cabinet complements the classic Marantz styling beautifully and gives the receiver an especially handsome presentation. The cabinet includes a large ventilated upper section to provide proper airflow for this powerful receiver.

About the Marantz 4300

Introduced during the height of the 1970s quadraphonic era, the Model 4300 is a highly versatile receiver designed to operate as either a powerful conventional two-channel receiver or a true four-channel system.

In 2-channel stereo operation, the amplifier sections are combined to deliver approximately 100 watts per channel. In four-channel operation, the 4300 provides approximately 40 watts per channel x 4.

Marantz also equipped the 4300 with its Vari-Matrix circuitry, allowing conventional two-channel material to be reproduced through a synthesized four-channel sound field. The Dimension control varies the characteristics of the derived rear-channel information. The receiver can additionally reproduce discrete four-channel sources and was designed to accept an optional plug-in SQ decoder for SQ-encoded quadraphonic material.

The 4300 also incorporates a built-in Dolby noise-reduction system, unusually extensive front/rear controls, dual tape facilities, phono input, auxiliary input, preamp/power-amplifier connections, multiple speaker connections and Marantz's famous flywheel-operated Gyro-Touch tuning system.

It is a wonderfully overbuilt piece of classic Marantz engineering and remains equally enjoyable today as a serious high-powered stereo receiver.
