This is a vintage Leedy (SlingerLeedy) snare drum from the late 1950s to mid-1960s, finished in blue sparkle (also called blue glitter).
Key Identification Details
• Badge: The blue oval badge reading “SINCE 1895 Leedy Drums CHICAGO, ILL. U.S.A.” is the classic Slingerland-era Leedy badge. Slingerland bought the Leedy name in the mid-1950s and produced these until the late 1960s.
• Construction: These are typically 3-ply shells (mahogany/poplar/maple or similar) with reinforcement rings, built on Slingerland tooling. They use stick-saver style hoops and chrome hardware.
• Finish & Hardware: Original blue sparkle wrap with chrome lugs (beavertail/art-deco influenced style common on these). The throw-off is a period-correct lever style with fine tuner. It is slightly bend, but perfectly functiona. It currently has modern Evans heads and snare wires.
