This is a 1976 Martin D-35 that has been remarkably well preserved for a 50-year-old instrument.
Serial #381531. The original Martin paperwork is included and shows a purchase date of April 21, 1978, along with the original Martin hardshell case. The guitar stand is included with local pickup only.
What makes this one special is the sound. It has the deep, full low end, warmth and resonance people look for in an older D-35, with the unmistakable three-piece rosewood back that defines the model. It is a guitar that has had decades to open up, and it sounds every bit like a vintage Martin should.
The guitar presents very well for its age, with normal signs of use. There is one known repair at the headstock, clearly shown in the photos. I want to be completely transparent about it. The repair is visible, but the guitar remains stable, plays properly, holds tuning, and most importantly, its tone has not been compromised. There are no other known repairs or damage.
Finding a D-35 from this era in this condition, together with its original Martin case and period paperwork, is becoming increasingly uncommon.
Located in the Orlando, Florida area. Local buyers are welcome to see and play it in person.
